Agnes Vaille Falls - April 2006
Agnes Vaille Falls

If you love tall and imposing Colorado waterfalls and you're in the Chaffee County area, Agnes Vaille Falls is definitely a must see. To get there, take Chaffee County Road 162 westbound, past the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs into Chalk Creek Canyon. You'll see the clearly marked trailhead and parking area about five miles west of the hot springs.

The trail to the waterfall is a modest 0.5 miles. It is clearly marked until it reached the creek, in which it takes some basic scrambling among rocks along the creek bed to arrive at the waterfall.

Agnes Vaille Falls

(NOTE: I wrote this during the winter. I figured I'd keep it for memory's sake!)

At the time this page was created (January 30, 2006), it is January and Agnes Vaille Falls is very likely covered in snow. From a photographic standpoint, it would be wise to wait until the spring or summer to take a picture of this wonderful waterfall.

In the meantime, click on the above photo above to read a sign inside Chalk Creek Canyon about Agnes Vaille's life. It is very interesting! Until then, thanks for your patience! :) (I just kind of figured that I would at least get the page up as a way to motivate me to make a full pictorial when it gets warmer!)

Sincerely,
The ChaffeeCounty.net Webmaster :)
